Currently, the investment threshold for projects located in targeted employment areas (TEAs) is $500,000, while the threshold for projects outside of TEAs is $1,000,000. These minimums may be changed by Congress, but it is unclear when and by how much. At the end of 2015, Congress extended the program for nine months without alteration; the program is up for reauthorization on September 30, 2016, and may at that point be changed.
