What are the restrictions and limitations of conditional permanent resident status?

Conditional permanent resident status affords foreign nationals with all the rights, privileges, and responsibilities of permanent resident status—the only difference is that conditional permanent resident status expires after two years and must be renewed yearly until the I-829 Petition is adjudicated. If the I-829 Petition is approved, the investor and any derivative beneficiaries will be granted permanent resident status without conditions, which does not expire—though the permanent resident card (Green Card) requires renewal every 10 years.
