If a B-1 Visa holder with an approved I-526 Petition needs to travel to the U.S. for business purposes before obtaining permanent resident status, he/she may be able to—but it will likely be necessary to have documentation stating the urgency of the visit and an itinerary that includes a departure date or some other indication of intent to return. Before attempting to travel, the B-1 Visa holder should get the opinion of the U.S. embassy or consulate in his/her home country.
